MassMEP Celebrates Manufacturing Month with Strategic Resource Showcase and Massachusetts Manufacturing Landscape Report

November 19, 2024 – Auburn, MA – Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership, MassMEP, celebrated Manufacturing Month 2024 with the release of the latest Massachusetts Manufacturing Landscape 2024 report at the MassMEP Strategic Resource Showcase event. The report was developed from an in-depth Voice of the Manufacturer survey of Massachusetts manufacturers. The survey and the resulting report, capture the pulse of the industry and highlight the major challenges and opportunities facing companies today. Key takeaways from the report indicate a focus on workforce development, supply chain resilience, technology adoption, and market expansion.

Kathie Mahoney, President of MassMEP, emphasized the importance of this report in shaping the future of manufacturing. She stated, “Our annual Voice of the Manufacturer survey allows us to hear directly from the businesses that drive our state’s economy. It’s essential for understanding the evolving needs of the industry, and our Strategic Resource Showcase provides a platform for manufacturers to connect with resources that can help them navigate these challenges.”

Key findings from the Massachusetts Manufacturing Landscape 2024 report demonstrate manufacturers’ ongoing struggles with workforce development, integration of advanced technologies, and the need for supply chain resilience.

• Manufacturers in Massachusetts are particularly focused on leveraging technologies like AI and automation to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Expanding into new markets and acquiring additional clients is crucial for manufacturing companies aiming to sustain growth in today’s highly competitive environment.

In response to these findings, MassMEP is enhancing training programs, offering specialized consulting on digital adoption, and providing strategic guidance on building resilient, sustainable operations. According to Mahoney, “Our goal is to ensure that Massachusetts manufacturers not only survive but thrive in this dynamic environment.”

The Massachusetts Manufacturing Landscape Report was released at the MassMEP Strategic Resource Showcase. This event, hosted in partnership with the Associated Industries of Massachusetts, AIM,  is an annual event where manufacturers have an opportunity to connect with vetted resources who can help address the challenges identified in the Voice of the Manufacturer survey. These resources specialize in areas critical to business growth and improvement, including Lean manufacturing practices, advanced technologies, leadership mentoring and coaching, and strategies for entering new markets. These connections are essential for companies looking to overcome obstacles and thrive in an increasingly competitive environment.
