MKS Announces Newport™ ODiate® Fluorescent Filter Sets, Precision Optical Filter Sets for Fluorescent Imaging Systems

October 7, 2024 – Andover, MA – MKS Instruments, Inc (NASDAQ: MKSI), a global provider of enabling technologies that transform our world, has announced Newport™ ODiate® Fluorescent Filter Sets, precision single band optical filter sets utilized for fluorescent imaging. Introduced at Neuroscience 2024, Newport ODiate Filter Sets are matched filter sets designed for wavelength ranges of common fluorophores used in fluorescent imaging. Fluorescence occurs when a molecule absorbs light at wavelengths within its absorption band, and then emits light at longer wavelengths within its emission band. Newport ODiate Filter Sets, which include emitter, exciter, and dichroic filters, are optically designed to deliver optimal imaging response from some of the most common fluorophores used in fluorescent imaging systems. The Newport ODiate Filter Sets feature high % transmission, steep spectral edges and deep OD, that enable high image quality and low signal to noise ratio in fluorescent imaging systems. Fluorescence is widely used technique in biology, biotechnology, and medicine, due to its extraordinary sensitivity, high specificity, and ease of use.

Newport ODiate Filter Sets utilize proprietary thin film coating technology to provide precision, durable optical filters. These excitation, emission, and dichroic filters are designed specifically for use in fluorescence imaging applications. They are fabricated at industry-standard dimensions that make them compatible with filter cubes from all major manufacturers. Individual filters and filter sets initially offered are targeted at common fluorophores: DAPI, TRITC, GFP, FITC, Texas Red, and Cyanine (CY3.5). The filter sets are designed to produce bright, high-contrast images and to maximize signal-to noise ratios. ODiate filter sets are ideal for fluorescence microscopy or fluorescence imaging applications and are available for common fluorescent dyes and fluorescent proteins. Additionally, these filters can be utilized in polymerase chain reaction (PCR) diagnostic instruments. The ODiate filters are available as filter components or assembled into customer specified filter cubes.
