New COVID-19 PPE Portal Provides Manufacturers with Entry Point for Donations, Sales, and Production Pivots
April 14, 2020 – Auburn, MA – MassMEP – The Baker-Polito Administration has announced the COVID-19 PPE Procurement and Donation Program, a new, online portal where individuals and companies can easily donate or sell personal protective equipment (PPE) and volunteer to support the COVID-19 outbreak in Massachusetts. The program also provides an entry point for local manufacturers to get more information on adapting their businesses to produce more equipment here in Massachusetts. This program is being managed by the Commonwealth’s Emergency Response Team, with MassMEP representing the manufacturing community.
John Killam, President of MassMEP, stated, “Under the leadership of Mike Kennelly, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development, the Emergency Response Team was formed to address shortages of critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and near term solutions for pivoting manufactures capable of producing PPE product quickly. MassMEP is proud and honored to be serving the Commonwealth and our manufacturers during this difficult time. MassMEP’s unique capability to access Massachusetts manufacturers at a personal level positions us to be the connector between industry and the Manufacturing Emergency Response Team.”
The Commonwealth’s COVID-19 PPE Procurement and Donation Program features an easy-to-use portal that allows companies and organizations to sell or donate protective equipment that is in short supply, given global demands for such items. By visiting the website, businesses and organizations can offer for purchase or donation critically needed personal protective equipment, including:
- N95/N99 masks (respirators)
- Surgical/procedure masks
- Facemasks with integrated shields
- Powered air-purifying respirators (PAPR)
